Marjan Hussein Marjan has resigned as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) following a crisis meeting on Tuesday, January 3. His resignation was by mutual agreement after commissioners questioned his procurement decisions and governance.

• Commissioners questioned Marjan's handling of an Auditor-General report revealing irregular payments, including 40 percent of funds paid to advocates, amounting to hundreds of millions of shillings.
• The IEBC's leadership transition aims to strengthen accountability and improve performance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
• Marjan had served as CEO since March 9, 2022, after nearly five years in an acting capacity, overseeing the 2022 General Election.
