Britam has launched an affordable medical insurance product, Bima Ya Mwananchi (BYM), accessible via WhatsApp, designed to cater to the common Kenyan. With premiums starting from as low as Ksh4,600 annually (Ksh383 per month), this initiative aims to provide accessible healthcare coverage and simplify the insurance application process.

• The entry-level Option 1 plan offers a total shared family benefit of Ksh75,000 for inpatient care, including coverage for chronic conditions, maternity, and COVID-19 hospitalization.
• The medical cover is designed for Kenyan residents aged 18 to 65 at entry, with renewal up to age 70, and includes multiple tiers of coverage and optional outpatient benefits.
• The entire application process, from sending "Hi" to 0705 100 100 on WhatsApp to policy activation and payment via M-Pesa, can be completed in under 10 minutes.
