Kenya and the United Kingdom have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance border security and combat transnational organised crime, such as human trafficking and migrant smuggling. This agreement aims to protect communities and promote stability in Kenya’s borderlands.

• The initial phase of the program will prioritize Turkana, Mandera, Marsabit, Wajir, and Busia counties.
• The MOU was signed by UK Deputy High Commissioner and Development Director Diana Dalton and National Administration Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo.
• The agreement follows President William Ruto’s visit to the UK in July last year, where both countries deepened their partnership for five more years.
• Kenya aims to double trade with the UK to Sh680 billion by 2030.
• Trade between the nations surpassed Sh340 billion in November 2025, driven by rising exports.
• In the year ending September 2025, Kenya exported Sh63 billion in goods and Sh71.5 billion in services to the UK.
• The UK exported Sh134.6 billion in goods to Kenya in the same period.
