A family in Emanyi village, Kisii County, is mourning the death of their son, Dennis Bagaka Ombwori, 39, who was killed in the Ukraine war after allegedly being lured into joining the Russian army. He was among Kenyans who reportedly left the country with promises of employment in Qatar.

• His brother, Alfred Morara, stated, "Huyu kijana alienda kupitia kazi ya serikali, kufika Russia they were told there were better jobs, no one said they were going to war."
