President William Ruto inspected the ongoing upgrade of the Garissa Airstrip, which is ahead of schedule and within budget, promising enhanced economic opportunities for Northern Kenya. He also oversaw the disbursement of Ksh 63 Million in NYOTA Start-Up Capital Grants to youth in Garissa County.

The Garissa Airstrip upgrade will expand and improve the runway, aiming to boost passenger traffic by over 200,000 annually.
A total of 2,520 youth from all 30 wards in Garissa County will receive grants as part of the Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda.
Each beneficiary will initially receive Ksh 25,000: Ksh 22,000 in their Pochi la Biashara mobile wallet and Ksh 3,000 invested in a Haba na Haba Savings Account with the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
