The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has ousted Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna from his position as Secretary General due to alleged misconduct and indiscipline, including opposition to a potential ODM-UDA pre-election coalition. This decision was made during a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Mombasa on Wednesday, February 11.

• Catherine Omanyo, Busia Woman Representative, has been appointed as acting Secretary General.
• The ouster also saw several of Sifuna's allies, including Caleb Amisi, removed from their NEC positions.
• The move signifies a consolidation of power by the faction loyal to Party Leader Oburu Oginga and the proposed cooperation with UDA.
