Martha Karua, leader of the People's Liberation Party (PLP), has downplayed reports that the opposition would absorb Edwin Sifuna after his dismissal as Secretary-General of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) on Wednesday, February 11.

Karua stated that the opposition would not rush into a decision, questioning the procedural integrity of Sifuna's dismissal and hinting at deeper internal struggles within ODM.
The ODM's National Executive Committee (NEC) cited "persistent indiscipline" by Sifuna, particularly towards party leadership, as the reason for his immediate removal.
Following Sifuna's removal, Busia Woman Representative Catherine Omayo assumed the role of Secretary-General.
