President William Ruto has directed the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to undertake the construction of a new Ksh900 million stadium and a new airport in Mandera County. This initiative aims to upgrade Mandera's sports and transport infrastructure to international standards.

• The stadium, costing Ksh900 million, will include a canopy similar to Talanta Stadium, with construction beginning in the next two months and slated for completion by December for Jamhuri Day celebrations.
• Defence Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru has been instructed to oversee the construction work.
• The KDF will also construct a new major airport in Mandera, featuring a terminal building, with work commencing in April.
• Additionally, the government plans to recruit 600 teachers from the North-Eastern region through an affirmative action initiative to address teacher shortages.
