Parliament has invited public comments on Ida Betty Odinga's nomination as Ambassador to the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi. President William Ruto appointed Mama Ida, a seasoned educationist and women's rights advocate, for her lifelong service and advancement of female leadership.

• Public submissions must be made through written statements on oath (affidavits) with supporting evidence by Thursday, February 19, at 5:00 pm.
• The vetting hearing for Mama Ida is scheduled for Friday, February 20, at 10:00 am, before the Departmental Committee on Defence, Intelligence and Foreign Relations at the Mini-Chamber, County Hall.
• Alongside Mama Ida, Francis Meja, nominated as Chairperson of the Public Service Commission (PSC), will also face parliamentary approval hearings.
• Nominees are required to provide official identification, academic and professional credentials, and clearance certificates from seven institutions, including the EACC, KRA, and DCI.
• Mama Ida's nomination has generated significant political interest amidst internal divisions within the ODM party.
