The High Court in Nairobi has ruled that Sh22 million from the late Justice David Majanja's Group Life Assurance (GLA) policy will be distributed as part of his intestate estate, rather than to a single beneficiary under his Will.

• Justice Stephen Riechi ruled that insurance payouts and employee benefits are not "choses in action" and thus not covered by the Will's specific clause.
• Justice Majanja died on July 10, 2024, and had not completed nomination forms for his insurance or retirement benefits.
