Vivian van de Perre, acting head of the UN peacekeeping mission in the DR Congo (MONUSCO), met with M23 rebel group leaders in Goma to discuss a ceasefire monitoring mechanism, following the group's seizure of the city in January 2025.

• The M23 welcomed MONUSCO’s role but stated they were not informed about a ceasefire proposed by Angola, while Kinshasa accepted the principle for a peaceful resolution.
