Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali has denied claims that he will run for Mombasa Governor as a DCP candidate. This clarification came after DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua introduced Ali as his candidate for the seat.

• Mohamed Ali clarified that Gachagua had only pledged to support his candidature, stating: “Rigathi Gachagua said he will support my candidature. That is the truth of the matter.”
• The misunderstanding arose when Gachagua introduced Ali at a church service, saying he was "my candidate for the governor seat in Mombasa County."
• Ali, nicknamed 'Jicho Pevu', is currently a member of President Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA), but plans to possibly leave the party if denied a ticket in 2027.
