Justice Ahmed Issack Hassan has resigned from his position as Chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) following his appointment as a judge of the Court of Appeal.

• Hassan's resignation was confirmed by IPOA's Board, and Vice Chairperson Anne Wanjiku Mwangi will take over in an acting capacity.
• The appointments, including Hassan's, were made by President William Ruto and confirmed through a Gazette Notice on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
• Hassan previously served as the head of IEBC from 2009 to October 2016 before his appointment to IPOA on December 5, 2024.
