President William Ruto has nominated a new chairperson and six commissioners for the National Land Commission (NLC), fully reconstituting the body following a court ruling.

• The nominations, announced by Head of Public Service Felix Koskei, name Dr Abdillahi Saggaf Alawy as the new Chairperson.
• The six commissioner nominees are Susan Khakasa Oyatsi, Daniel Murithi Muriungi, Kigen Vincent Cheruiyot, Dr Julie Ouma Oseko, Mohamed Abdi Haji Mohamed, and Mary Yiane Seneta.
• The appointments are in line with a Court of Appeal ruling on February 13, which allowed recruitment to fill vacancies while upholding the terms of two serving commissioners, Esther Murugi Mathenge and Tiyah Galgalo Ali, until December 20, 2026.
• The nominations have been forwarded to the National Assembly for vetting and approval.
