Govt Intervenes After Fire Incident at Children’s Facility

Sixty-three boys were safely evacuated from the Thika Children’s Rescue Centre on February 17 after a fire destroyed one of its dormitories. Ministry of Gender, Culture, and Children Services PS, Caren Ageng’o, confirmed no casualties, with all children and staff secured and alternative accommodation arranged, as investigations into the fire's cause begin.

Students Hospitalized as Fire Razes Down Dormitories

While the cause of the fire remains unknown, the infrastructure and dormitories burnt represented a significant portion of the school's critical infrastructure.
