A new report by the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) indicates that prices for several basic commodities are set to increase from February through March this year, primarily due to prevailing sunny and dry weather conditions.

• The report, based on the Agriculture Sector Survey for February 2026, identifies 9 basic commodities expected to see price hikes.
• Vegetables (spinach, sukuma wiki, cabbage, onions, tomatoes, carrots, Irish potatoes, peas), maize products (green maize, maize grain, maize flour), and milk (fresh packaged and unpackaged cow milk) are projected to rise.
• The survey, conducted between January 19 and 23 this year, interviewed 320 respondents across key food-producing and trading regions.
• 62 percent of respondents in the January 2026 survey expected overall inflation to increase in the next three months.
