Kenyan environmentalist Hillary Kiplagat Kibiwott of the Green Earth Ambassadors Foundation has received approval from Guinness World Records for an ambitious attempt to plant 24,000 trees in 24 hours in Elgeyo Marakwet County.

• The tree-planting marathon is scheduled to begin on April 22, 2026, at 11am, concluding on April 23, 2026, at 11am.
• Kiplagat aims to surpass the current record of 23,060 trees, set by Antoine Moses in 2021.
• This initiative highlights Kenya’s growing involvement in grassroots environmental action, following Truphena Muthoni’s recent Guinness World Record for tree-hugging and her appointment as an Ambassador for the 15 Billion Tree Planting Campaign by President William Ruto.
