The Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is advocating for significant amendments to the proposed National Infrastructure Fund (NIF) Bill, 2026, to ensure it effectively supports industrial growth and proper financial management.

• KAM proposes that at least 40% of construction materials for NIF-supported projects be sourced locally to boost domestic manufacturing.
• Key proposals include a two-tier governance structure (Board of Trustees and Board of Directors) to prevent fund diversion and ensure private sector representation on the board.
• KAM also seeks to cap administrative costs at 0.5% of the Fund and impose harsh penalties, including a minimum fine of Ksh 10 million or five years imprisonment, for misappropriation of funds.
