A defilement suspect, Lamech Oluoch Ogonda, has been charged anew after a previous case was withdrawn due to insufficient evidence. The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) revived the cold case following intervention from the victim's family and human rights groups.

• Mr. Ogonda faces charges of defilement and committing an indecent act with a minor now before the Shanzu court.
• The alleged offense occurred on September 23, 2019, involving a 16-year-old victim.
• Mr. Ogonda was released on a Sh30,000 cash bail, and the case is set for hearing on March 17.
