Despite a decline in revenue primarily due to illicit cigarette trade, BAT Kenya has reported an 18% increase in profit before tax for the full year ending December 31, 2023.

• Profit before tax reached Sh7.7 billion, up from Sh6.5 billion in the previous year.
• BAT Kenya Plc, led by Managing Director Crispin Achola, saw its net revenue decrease by 10% to Sh23.2 billion.
• Illicit cigarettes now account for up to 45% of the domestic market, impacting industry and government tax revenues.
