Reconciliation talks between governors and senators collapsed after Senate Speaker Amason Kingi called off a meeting aimed at resolving tensions over Senate oversight. The meeting was convened following complaints from the Council of Governors (CoG) about alleged harassment by Senate committees.

The CoG has accused the Senate Public Accounts Committee (CPAC) of extortion and mistreatment, vowing to boycott it.
Speaker Kingi deferred the meeting citing governors' failure to honour summonses, which he stated hampers the Senate's oversight mandate.
The CoG chairperson Ahmed Abdullahi named four senators allegedly involved in extortion, demanding their removal from CPAC.
