The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) is constructing National Youth Service (NYS) barracks at its Karura headquarters and other forest stations nationwide to support President William Ruto's goal of growing 15 billion trees by 2032.

• The project aims to address historical shortages of tree seedlings for the national reforestation effort.
• KFS, in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing, is using prefabricated metal containers for a low-impact build.
• KFS assures the public that no protected forest land has been encroached upon or felled, with works complying with the Forest Conservation and Management Act of 2016.
