Former union boss Wilson Sossion has won a legal battle at the Court of Appeal, clearing a significant hurdle for his potential return to the Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) leadership.

The Court of Appeal ruled that the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) acted unfairly when it terminated Mr. Sossion's employment as a teacher in 2018.
This victory allows Mr. Sossion to pursue his declared intention to contest for the Knut secretary-general position he resigned from in 2021.
Despite the ruling on his termination, Mr. Sossion remains de-registered as a teacher by the TSC, which the commission notes requires a separate application to rectify.
