The Mombasa County Government has issued a 45-day vacation notice to traders at Makupa and Majengo markets to allow for the construction of new modern markets.

Traders are required to relocate their belongings to a temporary open-air market along Majengo Road within 45 days.
The project is overseen by Peter Migosi, the Director of Trade in the Department of Tourism, Culture and Trade, and is part of the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
The new markets are expected to take a maximum of 12 months to construct and will provide improved facilities for traders.
