Kenya Railways has clarified its policy on prohibited and restricted items for passengers traveling on the Madaraka Express Standard Gauge Railway (SGR), emphasizing enhanced safety and security measures.

• Tools, including hammers, pliers, and screwdrivers, are now classified as restricted items and must be surrendered at stations.
• Other banned items include alcoholic beverages, aerosol sprays, firearms (unless registered and pre-declared), flammable materials, compressed gases, animal trophies, and illicit drugs.
• Kenya Railways advises passengers to consult station management for guidance on items like bicycles and to be aware of the comprehensive list to avoid travel inconvenience.
