Police in Nairobi have issued a stern warning and are threatening to evict residents and business owners with illegal structures along the Nairobi River.

• Residents are urged to voluntarily demolish structures before an official eviction notice is issued.
• The directive comes from Simiyu Were, the Nairobi East Police Commander, following a meeting with officials from the Nairobi City County Government, the National Police Service, and the Nairobi River Commission.
• The move is part of broader efforts to clean and restore the polluted river. Authorities also warned of arrests for those found dumping waste into the river.
