The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has issued a stern warning to Principal Secretaries and other State officers, prohibiting them from participating in political campaigns. This directive, shared with the National Assembly Committee on Implementation of the Constitution, clarifies existing regulations regarding public participation in politics.

• The EACC is reinforcing that, unlike Cabinet Secretaries and County Executives, other public and State officers are legally barred from engaging in political campaigns.
• The EACC, led by its Chief Executive Officer Abdi Mohamud and Director of Investigations John Lolkoloi, is also advocating for reforms to prevent individuals convicted of corruption from holding office, even during pending appeals.
• The commission seeks to amend the Constitution to ensure disqualification from elective office remains in effect until a conviction is overturned on appeal.
