Kenyan Members of Parliament (MPs) have directed the National Treasury to dissolve nine State corporations and merge 42 others within the next eight months, by the end of October 2026.

The directive urges the Cabinet Secretary for the National Treasury and Economic Planning, John Mbadi, to expedite the process as approved by the Cabinet on January 22, 2025.
The affected parastatals include entities like the Kenya Tsetse Fly and Trypanosomiasis Eradication Council and the Kenya Film Classification Board.
This move is part of fiscal consolidation efforts aimed at eliminating inefficiencies and reducing the financial strain on the national budget, underpinned by the recently assented to Government-Owned Enterprises Act, 2026.
