Kenyan legislators are demanding that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) negotiate its outstanding legal fees of Sh4.2 billion with various law firms responsible for cases dating back to 2013.

• The IEBC's pending legal bills amount to Sh4,273,853,019, a reduction from an initial Sh5.6 billion following audits.
• The National Assembly Justice and Legal Affairs Committee, chaired by George Murugara, insists on direct engagement between the IEBC and the law firms.
• MPs, including Mwengi Mutuse, have questioned the significant reduction in legal fees and suggested further negotiation to potentially lower the amount.
