Search and rescue operations are underway in Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, after a building collapsed on Monday, March 16, 2026, during an attempted demolition.

So far, two people have been rescued.
The Ministry of Interior, alongside the Kenya Defence Forces, National Police Service, National Government Administrative Officers, and the Kenya Red Cross, are involved in the rescue efforts.
The structure was located along the riparian corridor of the Nairobi River and was slated for removal as part of the Nairobi River Regeneration Project.
