Two men, Douglas Muriithi and Antony Mugendi, have been sentenced to death in Meru County for a violent robbery that occurred on September 6, 2024.

• The stolen items included Sh5,700 cash, 87 kilograms of sugar, and 17 kilograms of onions, totaling Sh19,600.
• The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) successfully prosecuted the case.
• Despite the death sentence, Kenya has a practice of commuting such sentences to life imprisonment, with no executions since 1987.
