A nurse Robert Obunga in Homa Bay narrowly escaped an attempted murder when an intruder accosted him at his home, declaring, "Nimekuja kukuua" (I have come to kill you).

• The attacker, armed with a pistol, dropped a 15-round magazine during a struggle with Mr Obunga.
• Mr Obunga is a nurse employed by the county government of Homa Bay and stationed at Homaline Health Centre.
• The Kenya National Union of Nurses and Midwives has called for the immediate closure of Homaline Health Centre due to grave safety concerns.
