The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has announced revised placement criteria for degree courses, set to be implemented in the 2026/2027 placement cycle.

• The new criteria, developed after extensive consultations with stakeholders, aim to better reflect students’ academic strengths and course requirements.
• The revision was led by a committee chaired by Mike Kuria, CEO of the Commission for University Education.
• This development comes as KUCCPS also considers removing the current minimum C+ requirement for degree course entry, a move discussed by KUCCPS CEO Agnes Wahome in light of the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC) transition.
