Farmers in Kenya's key agricultural regions are facing a severe shortage of subsidized fertilizer, threatening the current planting season. Long queues and limited availability at distribution centers have caused widespread frustration and concern.

• Farmers in Uasin Gishu, Trans Nzoia, and Elgeyo Marakwet counties have been waiting for over a week, some spending more than 12 hours daily at the Eldoret National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) depot.
• Farmers are calling on the government to devolve fertilizer distribution to the ward level for easier access.
• In a separate but related incident, eight suspects were arrested in Kakamega County for allegedly repackaging government-subsidized fertilizer, with over 5,000 kilograms of suspected genuine and fake fertilizer recovered.
