Two Kenyan journalists, Gilbert Sitati of Standard Group and George Njoroge of Mediamax, were assaulted on Friday, March 20, while covering a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) forum in Cherangany, Trans Nzoia County.

• The attack was allegedly carried out by Joram Wataka, a personal assistant to Trans Nzoia Senator Allan Chesang, who was upset about a WhatsApp status update referencing a story about a fake ambulance deal involving the Senator.
• George Njoroge sustained injuries during the assault.
• Joram Wataka also attempted to seize Gilbert Sitati's phone while he was recording the incident.
• The journalists reported the attack to Sibanga Police Station and have demanded Wataka's arrest and prosecution.
