Siaya Senator Oburu Oginga has urged Presidents William Ruto of Kenya and Yoweri Museveni of Uganda to resolve the ongoing conflict at Lake Victoria that has led to the frequent arrest and harassment of Kenyan fishermen by Ugandan security forces.

• Kenyan fishermen from Siaya and Busia counties are reportedly detained, fined, or have their fishing gear confiscated.
• The call was made by ODM party leader Dr. Oburu Oginga in Kisumu on March 21, 2026.
• Senator Oginga appealed for the lake to be treated as a "common user facility" to ensure joint management and end harassment.
