A suspected notorious gang leader was killed in a shootout with police officers and detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Meru County early Saturday.

• One suspect, identified as Mutembei Kola, was fatally shot during the gunfight.
• The incident involved police officers and DCI detectives confronting a group of five armed men.
• A Beretta Gardone pistol with three live rounds was recovered at the scene.
