Kenya's government is constructing a KSh 1.46 billion water pipeline through Karura Forest to address water shortages in Nairobi Eastlands.

The project, extending 8.4 kilometres, will supply an additional 211 million litres of water daily to residents along the Outer Ring Road corridor.
It is being implemented by the Athi Water Works Development Agency (AWWDA), with financing from the French Development Agency (AFD).
Construction within Karura Forest is scheduled from March to July 2026, aligned with existing pathways, and completion is expected by mid-2027.
