Residents of Elgon View estate in Eldoret have been displaced after River Sosiani burst its banks early on Monday morning, flooding their homes.

• The Uasin Gishu deputy governor, Evans Kapkea, cited a poor drainage system and excessive rainwater inflow as the cause.
• The flooding occurred around 5 am following three days of heavy rainfall in the region.
