The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is set to implement a Regional Electronic Cargo Tracking System (EAC RECTS), deploying smart electronic seals to heighten surveillance on cross-border commercial vehicles.

• The initiative aims to monitor shipments in real time across the East African Community region to prevent tampering and revenue leakage.
• The KRA is inviting eligible vendors to pre-qualify for the supply, operation, and maintenance of these electronic seals under a self-financing, user-owned framework.
• Vendors must meet stringent requirements, including holding a valid Communications Authority of Kenya licence and maintaining at least 1,000 operational seals regionally.
