An investigation into an acid attack on gospel artist Mary Claire has taken a new turn with the identification of Elvis Opiyo as the primary suspect, who has also been charged with a previous assault dating back to November 25, 2025.

• Elvis Opiyo, the suspected estranged lover of Mary Claire, has been charged with attempted murder and assault.
• CCTV footage shows Opiyo arriving at the same hospital where Claire was receiving first aid shortly after the attack.
• The court has ordered Opiyo to remain in custody for five days pending further investigations.
