Principal Secretary Charles Hinga has formally defended the Southlands Affordable Housing Project in Langata against a court petition, asserting that all legal, environmental, and procedural requirements have been meticulously followed.

• The Principal Secretary for the State Department of Housing and Urban Development stated that extensive public participation, including surveys and barazas, was conducted.
• PS Hinga countered claims of encroachment and environmental violations, noting that the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report was approved by the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) on 16th December 2025.
• He warned that continued delays under conservatory court orders could lead to significant financial losses and litigation.
