The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has registered 250,391 new voters since launching its Enhanced Continuous Voter Registration (ECVR) exercise on September 29 last year.
- New registrations are heavily concentrated in urban areas, with Nairobi leading with 49,055 new voters, followed by Kiambu with 20,404.
- Commissioner Dr. Alutalala Mukhwana expressed concern over low registration in arid and semi-arid regions and a low uptake among youth aged 18-20.
- Overall, Kenya's total registered voters now stand at 22,352,923, with those aged above 35 dominating new registrations.
