The Consumer Federation of Kenya (COFEK) is calling for the immediate suspension of the new Ksh5.40 Petroleum Development Levy, arguing it will worsen the cost of living.

• The levy adds an extra Ksh5.40 per litre to petrol, diesel, jet fuel, and LPG.
• COFEK Secretary General Stephen Mutoro stated the levy was introduced without adequate public participation or parliamentary oversight.
• COFEK is also demanding a review of all fuel taxes and transparency on revenue collected.
