Pope Leo XIV has accepted the resignation of Bishop Paul Kariuki Njiru, the founding Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wote. The announcement was made on 25 March 2026.

• Bishop Paul Kariuki Njiru, appointed in 2023, has resigned after establishing the new diocese.
• Rt. Rev. Simon Peter Kamomoe, the current Auxiliary Bishop of Wote, has been appointed as the Apostolic Administrator.
• The transition ensures the pastoral and administrative care of the Diocese of Wote continues uninterrupted.
