Kenya and the United States have reinforced their defence cooperation to tackle escalating security threats in East Africa, including the fight against Al Shabaab and other militia groups.

• The Chief of the Defence Forces, General Charles Kahariri, met with the Commander of the United States Naval Forces, Admiral George Wikoff, on Tuesday, March 24, 2026.
• Discussions focused on regional security, joint operations, intelligence sharing, and the role of emerging technologies in defence.
• This meeting follows the recent multinational military training exercise, Exercise Justified Accord 2026, involving over 1,500 personnel from the U.S., Kenya, Djibouti, and Tanzania.
