Members of Parliament are being urged by the Office of the Auditor General to take responsibility for addressing irregularities flagged in audit reports, particularly concerning the National Government- Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF).

• The Auditor General, Nancy Gathungu, states that it is the responsibility of House committees to punish officials deemed responsible for the queries, not the Auditor General's office once a report is tabled.
• MPs on the Budget and Appropriations Committee dispute this, questioning the Auditor General for not protecting legislators from negative publicity arising from these reports.
• A recent audit report highlighted unsupported disbursements of Sh2.1 billion for bursaries and scholarships across 86 constituencies, alongside other disbursement issues.
• MPs like Eldas MP Adan Keynan and Igembe South MP John Mwirigi expressed concern over the public perception and the role of MPs versus fund managers who are the actual accounting officers.
