The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has mandated that all mobile phones and tablets sold or imported into Kenya must feature USB Type-C charging ports, effective March 24, 2026.

• Non-compliant devices will be banned from entry into the country, impacting the supply of low-end and older models.
• The CA aims to standardize charging solutions and ensure minimum technical requirements for power, safety, and environmental compliance.
• New regulations also specify a minimum of eight hours talk-time and 24 hours standby time for all mobile cellular devices.
