The COMESA Competition and Consumer Commission has issued a public warning and recall for several infant milk brands due to potential contamination with cereulide, a toxin linked to foodborne illness.

• Affected products include multiple batches of Nutricia Aptamil Nutribiotik 2 and Nutricia Aptajunior Nutribiotik 3, as well as a wider range of Aptamil and Nursie products linked to Danone.
• The alert originated from findings by South Africa’s National Consumer Commission regarding a contaminated raw material.
• While initial distribution was confined to South Africa, Botswana, and Namibia, the products may have entered other COMESA markets through cross-border trade, with concerns also raised in Mauritius.
