The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has refuted claims that a police officer arrested for robbery with violence in Kitengela is linked to the Office of the Deputy President.
- Police Constable Samuel Gathitu Ng’ang’a, stationed at Elwak Police Station, was off duty during the alleged incident and is not part of the Deputy President's close protection team.
- Four police officers, including Ng’ang’a, appeared in court on allegations of jointly robbing a Congolese national of a diamond necklace valued at USD 1,905 and cash totaling USD 3,000, EUR 300, and Ksh 500.
- The court granted the suspects a cash bail of Ksh 50,000 each, ordering them to report daily to DCI Isinya.
- The accused officers are also reportedly wanted by DCI Embakasi in connection with another robbery case.
